Job Summary

Though Toys “R” Us’ clientele is petite, their stores are anything but. The Rylko team was brought on board alongside the project’s Shell and Core General Contractors, and was tasked with completing the entire 46,000 square-foot retail space within 15 weeks. Despite the tall order, Rylko delivered the project on time, going above and beyond to implement last-minute changes during the inventory phase so that Toys “R” Us could open its doors to its biggest—and smallest—fans, right on time.


In addition to standard big box store requirements, Toys “R” Us has a number of proprietary systems and unique needs that Rylko needed to accommodate throughout the course of the 15-week project. Back-of-house storage included extensive shelving and state-of-the-art switchgear components. In addition, Toys “R” Us uses a proprietary energy management system, which required Rylko to coordinate with multiple trades including security, fire alarms, HVAC, and electrical services.

No Toys “R” Us is complete without its counterpart— Babies “R” Us. Rylko created a full buildout to showcase the store’s line of furniture, essentials, and more. The team fabricated vignettes complete with crown molding, wainscoting, wood flooring, recessed downlighting, and backlit faux windows to help parents-to-be envision how each product would enhance their own home nursery.
